Literature is one of the best ways in communication. A lot of people find it easier to express feelings, complicated situations, and etc through writing. The best thing about communicating through literature is that it isn’t limited. A person can write poems, essays, short stories, long novels, letters, and etc all through literature.
The Norfolk Review is a literature annual event held in Norfolk, Virginia at Norfolk State University in late March or sometimes early April. It first started in 2002 with very known and popular professor Dr. Rosenman, where he decided it would be a great idea to publish an official journal from the ideas of the students and give Norfolk State University a better reputation and a positive view.
The first published journal was in March of 2002, back then the journal went by another name, “The Norfolk Pub” and it held that title until 2009. Last year another well known professor by the name of Daniel Pearlman took over the journal and with help from NSU creative writing club, they officially changed the name to “The Norfolk Review” because they felt the other name was not up to date. Though Dr. Rosenman is no longer in charge of the journal nor the event, he still receives proper credit every time the journal is published and gets an invite every year the event is held.
Since the change in management of the Norfolk Review, the event has gone broader as far as communications and getting there event out. There is now a website giving details about both event and journal. There are poems on this website that were read in the previous event, including the poem of the month. The website can be found at http://sola.nsu.edu/enfl/126%5Czymictemp/index.html.
